April 30, 2009

Calgary, AB, April 30, 2009 – The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre announces the successful proponent in response to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Prime Consultant Services Expanded Convention Centre Facilities. At its April 29th board meeting, the Calgary Convention Centre Authority (CCCA) accepted the recommendation of the Selection Committee to enter into negotiations with local Calgary firm Cohos Evamy integratedesign™ and partner LMN Architects.

The RFP was issued on February 3, 2009 to assist the Calgary Convention Centre Authority in selecting functional programmers with demonstrated expertise in developing convention and tradeshow facilities. It was the decision of the Board to take preliminary steps towards the possibility of expanded convention centre facilities in Calgary.

On March 10 the RFP closed and an independent Selection Committee, chaired by Bob Holmes, reviewed and recommended a short list of firms to be interviewed. The CCCA has set a goal of concluding an agreement and signing a contract with Cohos Evamy integratedesign™ by May 31, 2009.

The Prime Consultant will provide services to determine potential sites for expanded facilities, development of a Master Plan and building design.

In support of the CCCA’s efforts, City Council agreed to provide funding in the amount of $156,000 (November 17, 2008) to commence a feasibility study with the remaining balance of $1.0 million being approved on April 27, 2009.
